According to Neogaf, Game Informer has recently divulged information in regards to Vatra Games' upcoming intepretation of the Silent Hill franchise. Designed for the PS3 and XBox 360, Silent Hill: Downpour will take place in the outskirts of the original town. Because the locale is so large, you will end up using a subway system to navigate between focal points. 

Fights, in true survival horror fashion, are meant to be avoided as much as possible; you'll apparently be better off dealing incapacitating blows and fleeing immediately after. However, the South-Eastern segment of Silent Hill will now be explorable. There are no weapon inventories; they will eventually weaken and break.

There are a few tie-ins for fans but little else.

As always, choices will play a huge role in the finale of the game. Characters will also respond differently to Murphy based on the player's decisions in the games. While some fates are already sealed, Murphy's actions will still carry repercussions.
